INDONESIA

With thousands of islands to explore, Indonesia is a must visit destination for surfer’s. And it is Bali that is Indonesia’s most popular island for surfing, offering the best waves between the months of 04/and October. In the Southern end of Bali, you will find consistent waves at Uluwatu. This is a surf spot where you 05/find breaks that are up to 3m high. And then there’s the sandy white beach of Kuta, which is suitable for surfers at all levels, from beginner to expert.

HAWAII

In the midst of the Polynesian culture, Hawaii has some of the world’s most famous surf spots. If you are looking for the wave with a big barrel, you will most definitely find it in Pipeline, which is located on the island Oahu. Other surf spots in Oahu you should discover include Backdoor, Waimea Bay and Log Cabins. Maui’s Honolulu Bay is also a popular destination that has spectacular surf.

FIJI

Fiji is the host to a large sum of reef breaks. Mamanuca island is where you will find the best surf breaks in Fiji. In particular, Namouta Left and Cloudbreak have the most challenging surf breaks in the South Pacific region. Cloudbreak has in fact been voted as one of the 10 most challenging waves in the world. Winter is the better time to enjoy a surf trip, with the consistent swells between 04/and October.

PHILLIPINES

For the adventurous surfer, Philippines is a destination that will capture you. InsureandGo recommends you discover the Baler surfing spot in Aurora on the East Coast. Interestingly, Aurora was made famous following the filming of the movie Apocalypse Now. Siargao Island is another hotspot for surfers, with particular attention on surf spot Cloud Nine. TAHITI

Tahiti is best to visit between 04/and October, when the storms from the south influence bigger swells for surfers to explore. The village Taehupo’o is home to the Billabong Pro Surfing Contest so don’t miss the waves here. On the northern coast of the island, the best breaks can be found at Matavai Point and Point Venus. If exploring the southern coast, Papara and Fisherman’s Point have the best breaks.

USA-CALIFORNIA

Boasting some of the warmest waters, California has plenty of options for surfing. Santa Cruz’s Streamer Lane is a popular surf spot with wave directions in both left and right. Also, the surf rider beach in MalIbu is in fact one of the best right point breaks on the West Coast.  If you get the chance, also explore Trestles in San Clemente, Cardiff Reef in San Diego and Mavericks in Half Moon Bay for phenomenal surf conditions.

SOUTH AFRICA

There are hundreds of surf spots in South Africa. Jeffrey’s Bay is one of the more renowned destinations, with one of the world’s most consistent tubes. It is also hosts some of the biggest surfing events, such as the Billabong Pro. Between 05/and August, the Eastern Cape is the recommended stop, with surfing spots in New Pier, Bay of Plenty and Cave Rock that will amaze you.

NEW CALEDONIA

New Caledonia has excellent waves all year around, although the peak period is between 08/and 09/.  It is third largest island in the Pacific, and produces the same powerful swells as experienced in Fiji.  Some of the famous surf spots that you should be sure to check out include Froggies, Statepark and Lighthouse.

AUSTRALIA

With more than 11 000 beaches, Australia is a surfer’s paradise. InsureandGo recommend exploring Queensland’s Noosa and Snapper Rocks beaches, which host clean waves for all surfers.
