Why buy travel insurance during Black Friday sales?

Black Friday is a good opportunity to plan ahead for upcoming international or domestic trips and take advantage of saving on travel insurance.

You can enjoy 15% off award-winning, comprehensive cover, making it a bit easier to get organised for future travel.

Can I use the promo code for all types of travel insurance?

Yes, the promo code applies to all trip types (One-Trip, Cruise, Annual Multi-Trip) and all levels of cover (Bare Essentials, Silver, Gold).

When should I buy travel insurance?

Coverage for cancelling your trip prior to departure starts once you purchase the policy.

Cancellation cover (if included as part of your cover) can help you recover your non-refundable prepaid travel costs if you need to cancel for a coverable reason before your journey begins.

If you need to cancel your trip for a covered reason, your prepaid travel costs, such as flights, accommodation, and tours, may be reimbursed. Covered reasons can include things like redundancy, natural disaster (If you have purchased he applicable add-on), pregnancy-related complications, serious illness or injury, significant damage to your home in Australia, or the death of a travelling companion or a relative living in Australia.

For full details of the benefits, terms and conditions, limits, sub-limits and exclusions that may apply, please refer to the relevant Combined Financial Service Guide and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Why is travel insurance important for my trip?

Travel insurance can help manage unexpected costs that may arise during your journey, particularly overseas medical expenses, which can be significant in some countries. It can also assist with other unforeseen events such as trip cancellations, lost or delayed baggage, and travel disruptions due to natural disasters or emergencies, and can offer a layer of financial support when plans change unexpectedly.

The Australian Government or Medicare won’t be able to help you with overseas medical expenses. While Australia has several reciprocal healthcare agreements with other nations, these do not provide financial assistance for medical repatriation back to Australia to receive treatment.

Some countries might ask you for a copy of your insurance before granting travel visa applications. Visit Smart Traveller for country-specific requirements before applying for a visa.

Despite not providing medical coverage within Australia, domestic travel insurance is important for providing you with coverage for situations such as trip cancellation, lost or stolen luggage and personal belongings, trips disrupted by natural disasters, and more.

For full details of the benefits, terms and conditions, limits, sub-limits and exclusions that may apply, please refer to the relevant Combined Financial Service Guide and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Can I get cover for pre-existing medical conditions?

Pre-existing medical conditions aren’t automatically covered, but they can be considered via the medical assessment. You can complete this assessment online during the quotation process or speak with our team over the phone.

A pre-existing medical condition refers to any diagnosed medical condition for which you or any insured person has suffered from or has received any form of medical advice, treatment or medication in the past 5 years.

To determine if your condition can be covered, simply complete the Medical Assessment. If you prefer to do this over the phone, our team is happy to assist.

For full details of the benefits, terms and conditions, limits, sub-limits and exclusions that may apply, please refer to the relevant Combined Financial Service Guide and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

What is covered by travel insurance?

When purchasing with Insure&Go, you may have the option to choose between three different levels of cover: Bare Essentials, Silver, and Gold.

  • Bare Essentials: Basic level of cover, including essential coverage such as medical expenses, personal liability, emergency expenses, and baggage cover.
  • Silver: Includes the benefits of Bare Essentials plus trip cancellation, travel delay expenses, and more.
  • Gold: Includes all Silver benefits and can include higher benefit limits, and additional benefits such as special events, hijacking, pet care and resumption of journey.

All pre-existing medical conditions can be considered for all three levels of cover.
If you opt for an Annual Multi-Trip policy^ instead of a single trip policy^, you will be covered for multiple international trips over a 12-month period. Annual Multi-Trip policies include unlimited overseas medical expenses, unlimited cancellation cover on Gold policies, and baggage covered up to $8,000 on Gold policies.

To customise your policy, there are a number of additional upgrades available that offer coverage for winter sports, business equipment, and natural disasters.

For full details of the benefits, terms and conditions, limits, sub-limits and exclusions that may apply, please refer to the relevant Combined Financial Service Guide and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

What is a PDS, and why is it important to read it?

A Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) is a legal document that outlines the key features, benefits, limitations, sub-limits, and conditions of your travel insurance policy. It also explains your rights and responsibilities as a policyholder.

Reading the PDS can help you understand what is and isn’t covered and help you choose the policy that is right for you. Within the PDS, you will find details on excesses, premiums, coverage limits, exclusions, and optional upgrades.

For full details of the benefits, terms and conditions, limits, sub-limits and exclusions that may apply, please refer to the relevant Combined Financial Service Guide and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
